USB on front panel does not work normally

When I plug something in the front USB - Windows detects it, but after a while, it gives an error!
But when I plug it in the rear USB socket, everything is OK!

I noticed also, that when I plug my old MP3 Player (which is USB 1.1) - it works fine!

When I oppened the case, there was a low quality cable, that links the motherboard and the front panel USB. There was a label "USB 1.1" on it. It does not have the proper shielding for USB 2.0.

I tired to find one in a PC store, but the people everywhere told me, that such a cable is not for sale, and it comes with the computer case.

I decided to give it a try, and to make a shield.
1. Use aluminium foil for cooking. Slice it in ribbons, so that you can roll around the cable

2. Use black tape, to fix the foil.

3. Now USB 2.0 devices work PERFECT!
It worked for me, and I hope it will help you too!

Windows 7, 32-bit edition allows 3,25 from 4GB RAM

I faced this problem.
It can be caused by a lot of reasons , and in the 64-bit version too.
Many specialist say that 32bit hardware and OS cannot address more
than 4GB RAM, because the address is 32 bit long:

2^32 = 4GB

But there remains a question - how the heck the 32-bit server editions of Microsoft are capable of addressing more than 4GB???

I read it on a forum, and I think its true - Microsoft wants to make people totally migrate on 64bit OS. That's OK, but I do not agree, this to be done by force, and to restrict 32-bit OS.

The solution is here, Russians know how:

Sign in, its Worth.
*they update it periodically, so you can also try from http://staforce.msk.ru/load/

THIS program allows you to use 4GB and more in Windows 7 32-bit. You can also remove the watermark logo in the lower right corner of the desktop.

BUT beware - it converts the NT Kernel!
It makes a bootup menu, and you can select - the modifyed kernel (up to 128GB RAM), or the original (up to 3.25GB RAM).

P.S. (26.05.2012) - this program is not available any more, and the domain is closed....

VLC Player does not support hardware decoding

I use VLC Player for many years.
Recently I tested in on a Intel E5300 / 4GB RAM PC.

I tried a 1080p movie, but on complicated scenes it freezes.
The CPU was nearly 100%. I thought that VLC will detect my GeForce 220, and use it to decode movies. After searching the internet forums, I realised that VLC does not support DVXA or other.

I tried Media Player Classic Home Cinema.
Totally no lag on the movie and CPU utilization ~10%.

You can get it here

All this was on Windows 7 - 32 bit

Update: From some time VLC now supports GPU Acceleration, although it is not enabled by default I think.... It is working perfect for me!

Problem using USB_MultiBoot_10

When I used USB Multiboot 10, on step 2:
2) Give USB-Drive Target, currently
I encountered the following problem

MSg_DriveReady.vbs(5, 1) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Scripting.FileSystemObject'

***** Drive NOT Ready - First Format Disk with PeToUSB.exe *****

The decision is to register scrrun.dll with this command:

regsvr32 c:\WINDOWS\system32\scrrun.dll
If you feel unsecured about that, unregister it after using Multiboot with:
regsvr32 /u c:\WINDOWS\system32\scrrun.dll
